So, Chris' Party

It went really well, I think. A ton of people showed up. Some I thought, didn't and some it didn't think, did. I think everyone had a good time. At least they looked like they were. Everyone is always cranky about games, but hey they came to the party and I think had fun with the games despite themselves.. Although, the story game could have been a little funnier. Maybe it was just Chris' drunk reading. So speaking of drunk. Ummm a couple of people had a little too much which was pretty funny. One person tried to lick my eyeball. Not funny.. No mention of names here. They know who they are.

It was a long night. We ended up around the fire in the back yard talking geeky computer talk for hours. I think Chris had fun. He's paying the price today. But so am I with a worthless, resting, recovering husband.  Not to mention his twin on the couch next to him. So, I've retreated to the computer room to blog and then work. I refuse to do all the cleaning by myself. Rachel, Sam & Leah did a great job this morning getting the ball rolling. Thanks. Now it's bearable for a few hours. :)

Really what I want to do is retreat to my bed. It's been a VERY long week..  Or a long month I should say.

Thanks for everyone that came to Chris' party. I'm pretty sure he'll be able to get the golf clubs he's been waiting for for 10 years.  He ended up with $510..  Not bad. Just about what I spent.. Hummm.. I should have given him $500 and saved myself a whole lot of work.. but then he wouldn't have his lovely hangover and my eyeball wouldn't have been accosted.  :)

Sat. 27th & Sad baby stories.

So is anyone coming to Chris' party??? I think i need to start getting some RSVP's.. I got Susie's, Abby's, and I know Scott and Jen are coming, but what about the rest of you?  I just need to know how much food to buy and cook..  Muna will be in Tahoe.

I can't  put up any ultra sound photos cause my scanner is broken and Chris is in  Georgia til Wed. It's a short trip this time and I'm very happy about that. It is nice to have Alex all to myself at night when Chris isn't here. When he is here, A wants nothing to do with me. When he's gone, I get lots of kisses and he's usually pretty good.

Sad story:  I somewhat made the bed this morning before I got Alex up. We went back into my room to play on the bed, but there was a big lump on Chris' side.  Alex thought Chris was hiding under the covers, like we do every Sat. and Sun. morning. He was so excited to gently climb up to where Chris' head would be, pull back the covers quickly and then nothing.  Chris was supposed to be there and say, "Boo!"  But he wasn't and Alex was devastated. He kept saying, "da da? da da? da  da?"  It was the saddest thing I've ever seen..  So we called him on the phone and thankfully he had a lay over in San Francisco for 3 hours and could talk to Alex.. Then he was  better and said clear as day, "HI!"  with a big smile and kisses for the phone.  :(

Wed. will come soon..

Baby Shower Date

Well, just to give a quick heads up.  The date for the baby shower is Nov. 22, 08  at my house.  I'm going to try and keep it simple (but you know me).

I registered with JC Penny's for the baby's bedroom.  Slight problem, the whole set is on sale (good part) and won't last for long (bad part).  I'm hoping to get everything before it's gone.. I finally found something that I really like.  It's  red  ladybugs and is called "Fly Away Home" ..
We are going to transform the office into the baby's new room and move the office out to the garage.

Here is a link.

You have to type in Lacey Newkirk / Baby  / Feb

For those that don't know yet, we are having a GIRL  !!!!  :)  I have ultrasound photos, but haven't put them up yet. Well, have a great day and weekend.   We are going to spend tomorrow cleaning the yard for Chris' Birthday..

Update for Chris

So he went to the Dr. and got an X-Ray and his foot is not broken or fractured, just sprained. So, elevation, ice for the first 2 days and then heat. But always elevated. No running for 2 weeks, so no softball.    But at least it's not broken and we don't have any weddings for about 4 weeks, so he should be okay by then. Hopefully.

Pray For Chris

Last night at the softball Chris hurt his foot while rounding 1st base. He elevated it all night, iced it, and slept on Vicodin  (sp?).  This morning, he can't walk at all.. So off to Urgent Care we go to get X-Rays or whatever..  I told him he's not aloud to be sick. That's my job and his job is to take care of me.. Well, not today.

Letting Go

So it started out as a pretty wonderful day. I had breakfast with 3 of my photo friends and it was great (except Alex towards the end. But he's 20 months and has limited excuses)  But when I came home I just lost it. The house, the cat litter, the fact that my neighbor who promised to take Evil Sally Pants away this weekend, didn't take her. and she's still here trying to get into our house (for the past 2 weeks).

Back story for those who don't know Evil Sally Pants. (She's not evil, her new name is Sally and she doesn't wear pants... ) My neighbor left her and her 3 kittens. I found homes for the babies but not the mommy yet. Who, is a very sweet with beautiful blue eyes, but wants to live in my house and I don't want her to. She has a reputation of peeing in the house. And the world knows how I feel about cat pee. Most of the world would agree, except crazy cat people with 97 cats.

My delima (spell check will not help me here) is that we all like the cat. I would even spay her and keep her if she would stay out side. The cat door is where she's coming in. So the cat litter has been inside for 2 weeks, I'm pregnant and it's just been a miserable 2 weeks. I just have different limitations than other people.  I lost it this weekend in front of Chris' family, yelled at him, and feel terrible about it. Not about my decision, about yelling at him. That was wrong. Anyway, sometimes I can only take so much.

So just when I was ready to load the cat into the box and take her to the pound... and don't think I haven't tried for 2 weeks.. NO ONE is taking any cats. I had also just gotten off the phone crying embarrassingly with my vets office; begging them to take her if I spayed her..  They felt terrible but what can they do? Anyway, I was on the phone with the ASPCA to get a "free feral cat spay voucher" when my neighbor came to get the cat. See, he's supposed to have taken her to a farm in Earimart a week ago. Anyway, God must have know I was at my end, cause he spared her at the last moment.

So that's it. Evil Sally Pants  is off to a farm to hopefully catch mice and sleep in a  barn.. How cats should live.. I just hope they will fix her.  This world has tooooo many unwanted animals.
I guess I'm a little sad that I never took a photo of her and her beautiful blue eyes. But I'm glad she's not going to be put down. Alex kissed her good bye and I cried. What a day and it's only 2pm.

I do have to say that I blog about these things that seem silly to some, important to others. I don't mean to complain about things knowing that there are others that I care about who are dealing with far more than me, but there is a limit to what each person can take and today it just wasn't much. These are just things I need to get off my chest and mean really nothing in the grand scheme of things. So please don't think I'm insensitive to bigger problems in the world,  but it is and has been a hard decision to take or not take a creatures life. And  I'm   just relieved that God spared me from that decision today.

Burn After Reading

So thanks to Susie, we went on our first official date since Alex was born.. We had a quick dinner at the pizza place close to the theatre that took FOREVER to get Chris' sandwich made, which gave him 6 minutes to eat it before the movie started.. So, we finally got over to the movie (thought ahead of time and bought the tickets early) and then ran into old friends of mine from Teh. high.. what a blast from the past. They looked exactly the same, not a day older, but better and more beautiful than ever.. I however had no make-up on and look and feel fatter than ever. But was still happy to be on a date with my gorgeous husband. Anyway, I'll have to get together with them to really catch up..

To the movie....  We saw Burn After Reading.  I can't really say anything about it, you just have to watch it for yourself. Which I do recommend. They do say the "F" word about 1000 times but it was necessary and was a very well written movie. Those Coen Brothers are nuts. Here's a trailer.

Okay, never mind, I can't put the trailer on my blog, it would reveal too much. Anyway, it was funny.

Buuurrrr!!!

Today was a very long day spent working at the computer. So, it was time for Ink (for the printer) and Frozen Yogurt from our favorite Mannings Yogurt..  Here is a funny picture of him being done with having his picture taken and then a cute video..

Much Needed Windfall

Wouldn't it be  nice to win the lottery?  I think about 100k would work fine. I'm not asking for much..  Take off the taxes, pay the debt and put a little in the savings and then go back to normal life without the worries of money..  Last night I prayed, "God, please give me 100K, a good night sleep and a healthy baby"..  We have a ways to see the baby, I dreamt all night that the government wanted me to work for them (top secret of course) (cause we watched that new show, Fringe-which we liked and have now started recording) and the money didn't come today.   But I paid bills, got gas and still have $20..  It's a good day. Chris made dinner and Alex is almost asleep... I wonder sometimes, when I'm going to be able to get off this merry-go-round??? Maybe in the year 2021...

The Honda Pilot

So, as I said, we got our new car.. Well, practically new.. Only 1 year old with 23K miles.. Pretty new.. and for 7K less than the used car lot.. Ha! Take that sales people.. We are pretty happy with it. Although the gas is going to be a bit more, we'll just have to pick and choose where we go..  The color may look a little weird, but it was the time of day, dusk.. It's dark gray, charcoal..  It's kind of nice to not have 2 white Toyota's in the driveway.. We looked a little obsessive. Now we have variety and I HAVE CUP HOLDERS in front and rear air for Alex.. God, thanks for the blessing in disguise.

BBQ's are dangerous!

So, tonight we went to a BBQ/football game party at Chris' friends house. At some point Alex joined the other kids (all under 4) to slide down the kiddy slide. Chris is outside, I'm inside watching through the window. So, Alex decides to position himself on the side and no one can go down. Not nice. So this other boy tells him (like 2 year olds do) to get down.... By pulling Alex's hair..... I'm still just watching.  So Alex is telling him "no no no" and shaking his hand at him.  Moments later they are friends again and move on with life.. I never went out there, the moment passed.. Oh, there was a ball.. Much more interesting than the slide or having his hair pulled..

Hours later:  A little 2 1/2 year old boy is crying. Alex is near by.. "why are you crying?" "he pulled my hair"  Apparently Alex learns fast..  then there's a talking to, sorry, kisses for the boy.. Alex no pulling hair.. 30 minutes later... Aiden (3year old) is crying.. "he pulled my hair" and then so on with the talking to, time out, no kisses this time, he was tired and it was time to go home..  I suppose I'll have to tell his Day care teacher, Vicki, that he now has a new skill of getting his way.

But the Bears won (I don't care, but it was Shane's house and Shane's team) so I was happy for him and I suppose it was a good game..  the food was good and the people were nice.. and Chris had fun..  But sad news for Tom Bradey..

What A DAY!!!!!

Okay, can I get any more tired????   I guess the end of today's story is that we got the car I spoke about earlier. Yes, The Honda Pilot is Ours!!  I like it and it's comfy to drive. It's late, so I'll have to put up pictures tomorrow. Too tired and too dark outside. We got all of our stuff moved over to the new car and filled it was gas.  $70  A little scary. We'll have to see how far it goes.

More tomorrow. I'm tired.

Except that I've been feeling the baby all day.  Little vibrations all day.  :)

Heart Beats and Movement

I finally felt the baby last night. All the buzzing and vibrations. It was fun.. Maybe it was the chocolate pudding (not sugar free) that woke it up.. Not sure. But it was nice. Sad cause only I can feel it at this point, but Chris was still excited.. Yeah for heartbeats and movement.  :)  Here is a baby at 16 weeks which is what we are.  Still kind of strange, but getting there.

Prayer request: Today I'm going to have the "scary" blood test to make sure the baby doesn't have  Spinea Bifita or anything else that would be terrible. I wasn't going to do it. For most things the outcome will not change, but if it does have SB, then delivery would be very very important and the baby would have to go into immediate surgery to keep it from being paralyzed. So, I think it's wise.  I prayed with Alex and I'll pray again and hope that everything is fine. I have a very smart doctor and trust his impute and suggestions.

Good day all.

Heart Beats

Well, I had a Dr. appt. today and am happy to report that there is still a heart beat. Yes, I was a little worried.. Well, a lot worried.. I've been doing too much lately and have had some cramping. and  with my luck and the way things have been going I can never be sure of anything from one day to the next.. Just bringing in the groceries is now an issue. A task that results in an hour or two on the couch trying to keep cramping from setting in.  I've never been good at telling people "no".  But am going to have to start.. My body does not like having babies..  plain and simple.

Anyway, we should find out tonight if we won the auction or not on the car. I hope so. I like it and just want to be done with this whole car business..

My Lovely Assistant

What do you think?  Should I officially fire Chris, my assistant?  :)   TOOOO funny!!!

New Car Options

Well, there is a Honda Pilot at the credit union.. It's a tricky situation.. You have to bid on the car and will never know what others are bidding.. So, I bid$21K and hope to get it..  But it's practically brand new. 2007, 21K miles with Leather interior (+ other stuff).. We'll see. I guess if God's wants us to have it, then we will.. But it doesn't have a tow package or DVD players. But it DOES have cup holders in the front and rear air for the kids..
